At the Summit of Minds in Dilijan during a press conference, former US President Barack Obama’s National Security Advisor, founder of the Jones Group International organization, and retired Marine Corps general James Jones noted that there are interesting analogies in Armenia, especially with regards to building bridges in the region. “I believe that I have learned the lesson from this summit that Washington needs to speak more about the importance of this region.”
He asked everyone to be realistic before speaking about future plans. “We keep hearing about more competition, and there are bodies which have been formed as a result of that competition, which worries me. Serious diplomacy needs to take place here, and that shouldn’t be done through the media, but a decision needs to be made that will be easily understood by people. I agree with the idea that changes cannot take place because you yourself haven’t made any changes.”
