“Repopulating Artsakh should be a priority for Armenia and for the Diaspora,” said National Agenda political party council member Vartan Marashlyan. Marashlyan told Aravot Daily that repopulating the liberated territories is on the party’s agenda.
He noted that structures in Armenia, Artsakh, and the Diaspora do not have any strategies to resolve this issue. Vartan Marashlyan believes that no one has any illusions as far as how Azerbaijan intends to resolve the conflict after April of 2016. Because of this, there is only one way for Armenia to demand peace, according to him. This will be through repopulating Artsakh and making it stronger. All Armenians should try to make sure that the population of Artsakh doubles in 15 years. “If we had a revolution and are now living in a new Armenia, the time has come for us to seriously think about resolving this issue.”
Vartan Marashlyan moved to Armenia from Moscow in 2010.
