Armenian-Russian relations are developing stably. They are on a high level and they have a strategic nature. Russian ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin spoke to reporters about this when he summarized the past year of Armenian-Russian relations after the Velvet Revolution.
The ambassador said that it is important that the high level of relations between the two countries continues. He also spoke about the time period when Armenia was the chair of the EAEU. He said it was obvious that the Armenian government had the desire to be a worthy leader. He added that the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, will be visiting Yerevan during the EAEU Grand Assembly session in October.
The ambassador also believes that it’s important that, following the snap parliamentary elections in December, Armenia immediately began to establish ties between the two countries’ executive branches and worked to develop ties between parliaments.
He continued that Russia is Armenia’s transitional economic partner. Inventory turnover between the two countries rose by 11 percent- 2 billion dollars- in 2018. The amount of Russian investments reached 2 billion dollars by December.
