People with disabilities can purchase wheelchairs using money from the state budget, but they are not satisfied with the quality. My Step deputy Arpine Davoyan spoke about this during a parliamentary session on the 2018 budgetary spending. “They definitely have to use some of their own money in order to purchase a suitable wheelchair. Perhaps we should redistribute some of the money?” Arpine Davoyan said to the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Smbat Saiyan.
Saiyan said, “If the state is only offering one type of wheelchair, then we need to think about expanding our opportunities. Citizens decide on wheelchairs, but the state only sets aside 95,000 AMD for it. Everyone wants to have a better wheelchair, but the state needs to understand the scope of its abilities. But the fact remains that there is an issue of increasing the amount of money. We will hold discussions about this.”
