Experts predict that the latest actions Azerbaijan has taken prove that there will be serious tension, including a diversion attempt or another April War. Aravot Daily asked the Press Secretary of the Ministry of Defense Artsrun Hovhannisyan about whether he excludes the possibility of such events. “I will not exclude the possibility of anything, but we do not see signs of such predictions.” When asked about how Azeri-Turkish military trainings took place 13 times, 4 of which were massive, and along with that, there has been a buildup of special forces at the border, Artsrun Hovhannisyan said, “Believe me when I say I have more information on this than you do, but I do not exclude anything. Modern warfare is typical in the sense that it sometimes comes as a surprise and it doesn’t matter where the war is. I do not see any basis for such predictions at the moment, however.”
When asked what he would connect the presence of unmanned aerial vehicles to, as far as whether they’re a normal feature or whether serious investigation is taking place, Artsrun Hovhannisyan said, “Our defense minister said something great: We’re also doing a lot, just because we aren’t talking about it doesn’t mean… they’re doing it, and our media is reporting about it.”
When reporters asked about the context behind rewarding the avengers, Artsrun Hovhannisyan said, “If you agree to not shoot at each other, and that agreement is violated… is the Armenian side always supposed to uphold the ceasefire, while the Azeris can always violate it? No one gave anyone that right. The situation was clear. There is nothing else to add.”
Artsrun Hovhannisyan also spoke about the process of purchasing new weapons.
