The European Integration Affairs Committee of the National Assembly and the European Union’s Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats have organized a seminar in Yerevan titled “European Integration: the Estonian Experience and Lessons.”
A member of the European Parliament, Hannes Hanso, said that he has been in Armenia countless times and he has fantastic opinions on it. “As a deputy of the European Parliament, I can feel positive changes taking place in Armenia. I do not want to let go of this opportunity. We need to continue to have positive relations, to develop our relations, and to speak about the possible future for EU-Armenia relations. Armenia has always been a European state, country, and a place that has a deeply European culture. Estonia and Armenia have similar roots. I have always felt as though we are close with Armenians.”
According to him, Eastern Partnership is an opportunity to establish relations and it has special tools to do so. “We need to make sure that we use all the necessary tools for integration and for improvement. The Eastern Partnership is a project that supports prosperity in the region. This is not one-sided; it is a two-sided process that will benefit all sides involved.”
