‘Armenia does not have the right to get involved in Georgian internal politics’: Lilit Makunts

June 24,2019 23:31

Armenia is worried about the growing tensions and developing events taking place in Georgia. The head of the My Step faction, Lilit Makunts, spoke about this with Aravot Daily. She said that she hopes that Georgia and Russia, which both are important and strategic colleagues for Armenia, will come to some sort of agreement and allow the situation to be resolved.

Aravot Daily noted that Armenia may be blockaded as a result of these developments, and asked Makunts whether or not Armenian officials had any work to do here. “I cannot imagine what action Armenia should take here. These are political issues taking place in Georgia. I cannot respond to them in place of our Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but I do think that Armenia doesn’t have the right to get involved in Georgian internal politics,” Lilit Makunts said, also speaking about the revolution that took place in Armenia 1.5 years ago, saying that if any external involvement took place, it could have had a different outcome.
