Young European Ambassadors to discuss importance of water resources preservation with youth in Armenia

June 28,2019 20:43

On 30 June, Young European Ambassadors (YEAs) from Armenia will organise a discussion on the topics of water pollution, water usage and its importance in daily life of human beings. They will share water saving tips and present an overview of what the EU does to assist the country in water protection and safety.

The discussion “WatEUr: Study Course with YEAs” will be organised as part of the West Yerevan venue. More details can be found here.

The purpose of the event is to draw the attention of Armenian youth to the issue and discuss current water pollution issues that Armenia is experiencing in its main water sources: rivers and lakes, in particular Lake Sevan. The YEAs will organise three workshops:

  • “Wasting water: Simple steps to save water”
  • “Water pollution: Can we control the situation?”
  • “The EU and the issue of water: What is being done in Armenia?”

The presentations will be followed by a short quiz on water issues. Participants who successfully complete the quiz will be given eco bottles, as well as promotional gifts.

The “Young European Ambassadors” initiative aims to foster cooperation and sustainable links between young people and youth organisations from the EU and its Eastern partner countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.

The YEAs are the driving force of the “Young European Neighbours” network, an online platform that facilitates the mutual exchange of ideas and information on the EU, as well as the engagement of young people in informative activities. It is focused on people-to-people contacts and dialogue-driven activities that contribute to greater awareness and improved perception of the EU and the enhanced assessment of its relations with the Eastern Neighbourhood.
