The chair of the Public Services Regulatory Commission, Garegin Baghramyan, answered a question after a recent government session about how negotiations for the price of gas did not seem to be effective. He said that he wouldn’t agree that the negotiations weren’t effective. “If you look at the agreement signed in 2013 and at the resolution according to which the price of gas at the border should have been formulated, it should have been higher than it is today- 165.
So, it is due to the leaders of the state that we have the price of 165. Of course, any side is negotiating to get the most affordable price for itself.”
Baghramyan said that the negotiations still continue and there is no news.
He was asked about whether there would be any impact on Armenia if the gas prices in Russia increase. Baghramyan said that prices increase in Russia internal consumers. “Armenia would be impacted if it were to have an impact on the price of gas at the border. The prices of gas in Russia still have to reflect the amount of gas consumed at the border. If they can’t find it, there will be no impact.”

Baghramyan says that optimization will take place in Gazprom Armenia. “According to preliminary data, there will be about 1000 employees removed. However, this will take place over the next 5 years.”
According to Baghramyan, Gazprom Armenia is compensating for the increase in the price of gas with its savings. Baghramyan assured that the state hasn’t accumulated any debt.
