A project will be worked out for implementing the vetting of judges. Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan spoke about this with journalists after a recent government session.
Although the leader of the My Step faction Lilit Makunts said that vetting would be implemented by the Supreme Judicial Council and a new committee on anti-corruption, the Minister of Justice said that a separate project would be formed. According to him, the process of putting judges under disciplinary action should be discussed by the Supreme Judicial Council.
Rustam Badasyan also spoke about information circulating in the media that he was appointed to his position due to the efforts of the head of the Armenian Open Society Foundation office, Larisa Minasyan.
“When you talk about connections with Soros, I do not understand it. I do not know who this person is. I am not familiar with her and I have never met her. This is false,” Badasyan said, while also mentioning that the information about to serving in the army is also false. He said that he has a disease as a result of playing tennis.

Regarding information about how his father, who has a high-ranking position, played a large role in the advancement of his career, Rustam Badasyan said that his father did not have a high-ranking position when he was a student. It was when he graduated that his father was appointed the Head Deputy of the General Department on Combating Organized Crime.
The Minister of Justice was also asked about his opinion of Prime Minister Pashinyan’s decision to block the entrances to the courts. Rustam Badasyan said that the Prime Minister touched upon this issue in a comprehensive way. “Considering the Prime Minister’s position and what purpose it holds, I do not think it was illegal within that context.”
When asked about whether any citizen can simply call upon others to close the entrances to the courts, the Minister of Justice said no.
