July 03,2019 20:03

The first smart bus stop opened on Vardanants Square in Gyumri. The investor is 30-year-old Norayr Davtyan, who moved to Gyumri from Moscow after the revolution. He lived in Russia since he was 2 years old for 20 continuous years.

Aravot Daily asked him if he decided to move to Armenia after the Velvet Revolution. “Yes, I moved on November 1, 2018. I wanted to move to Armenia; I had many ideas. When my son was born this year, I started to think about his future. When the revolution took place in Armenia, that was the catalyst for me. I thought that it’s the perfect time to move to Armenia, to find something to do, start a business, and live a normal life. I came here last summer to check things out. I stayed here for a month and a half and I understood that I can move to Armenia after November 1st. I have a business in the Tavush region where produce is grown- vegetables and greens- and I thought that I can invest in Gyumri too. It’s my native city, where I was born and where I need to stay and live. I decided to implement smart bus stops, so I went to the municipality.” The young businessman said that 70 smart bus stops will be built within three years, and 35 will be built this year.

Norayr Davtyan’s business will become an advertising operator and will have the right to include advertisements on its stops in exchange for building the smart stops in Gyumri, creating the design, and for keeping the smart stops clean and safe.

“It is already possible and it is already the time to do something for Armenia, and I am very happy about that,” he said.
