According to politician Hrant Melik Shahnazaryan, relations between Georgia and Russia are moving in the direction of causing tensions in the conflict. He does not exclude that this tension may have a negative effect on Armenia in terms of communication and road blocks. The expert expressed his point of view publicly during a discussion organized by the Voskanapat Analytical Center.
The expert is worried because no suggestions are being made by Yerevan officials to decrease tensions in the situation by bringing forth solutions, which will promote Armenia’s vital interests.
Regarding Turkish-Azeri propaganda in Georgia, the speaker said that the authorities in Georgia have done everything possible since 2008 to drag out the Russian-Georgian conflict and to increase tensions. “Of course, everyone tries to solve their problems in this way. In Azerbaijan’s case, it’s through limiting Armenia’s methods of communication and using economic pressure to find pro-Azeri solutions to the Artsakh issue.”
According to expert Davit Matevosyan, the events taking place in Georgia over the last two weeks are directly connected to Armenia’s interests because 75% of Armenia’s foreign trade turnover is carried out on Georgian territory.
