The coach of one of the youth football teams in Glendale brought his athletes to a meeting with the Armenian community. He said that there are many talented Armenians and non-Armenians on the team who are inspired by Henrikh Mkhitaryan to move forward. He asked Mkhitaryan about why the children should choose Armenia’s national team and what they should do to reach that level.
“Every Armenian should aim to play on the Armenian national team and not on any other country’s team. Why? Because you’re Armenian and you have to play for the Armenian team. That is my opinion. No one forced me; I was raised that way. I knew that when I got older and had to make a decision, I would choose the Armenian national team. I am telling you to do the same, dear children. If you consider yourselves to be Armenians and you want to do it, then play on the Armenian national team. But if you choose another team, that’s your personal decision,” the team’s captain said.
