“I understand that it’s impossible for the political persecution of Robert Kocharyan to not cause our strategic ally, Russia, to worry. That’s simply impossible,” head of second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan’s office, Viktor Soghomonyan, told reporters at Sputnik Armenia.
“Regardless, the second president is in prison, which was done against the constitution. This sets a bad precedent. Besides that, Robert Kocharyan is a member of the council of one of the largest corporations in Russia, and he’s held that position for over ten years. It’s unfortunate that Armenia claims there is no political persecution,” Soghomonyan said.
