“When someone provides a service to the people and the homeland, and then they try to sell this service in order to receive privileges and remain outside of the law, this must not be tolerated.”
Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, speaking to Armenia, the Diaspora, and Artsakh during the gathering before the opening of the Pan-Armenian Games, presented several consensuses that the nation needs to agree upon. They include:
- Violence needs to be excluded as one of the methods for solving any Armenian issues. We need to eliminate the possibility of violence towards one another when we resolve issues. Any forces and people who accept violence as a form of resolution need to be rejected and thrown in the trash can of Armenian history. The only exception is legal violence to prevent crime and to uncover crime.
- The people and their free will are the only source for creating authorities. Any attempts to distort the people should be regarded as activities against the state and the nation. I consider the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections in Artsakh in a free, competitive, and democratic environment to be important. Armenia will present itself as the protector of the free will of the people of Artsakh to create their own government.
- The self-government of the people of Armenia and Artsakh is our highest value, and all the forces that attempt to include foreign forces in Armenian issues who represent foreign interests will be subject to tough resistance from the legitimate government of the Armenian people.
- Armenia and Artsakh need to remain free of corruption. All of its forms, including sponsorship, fake monopolies, and more, need to be completely eradicated. Damage done to the state as a result of corruption needs to be fixed.
- The supremacy of the law and rights needs to become a part of our national relationship. External and internal influence on the courts is a threat to our national security. The courts of Armenia and Artsakh need to remain independent. The Armenian nation has many worthy children, but the following is unacceptable: When someone provides a service to the people and the homeland, and then they try to sell this service in order to receive privileges and remain outside of the law, this must not be tolerated…
- The main consensus: any solution that is accepted by Armenia and Artsakh as a result of negotiations on the Artsakh issue can only be accepted as a result of the will of the majority of the Armenian people. It is useless to accuse the Armenian government of conspiring against Artsakh. Conspiracies are impossible in our government.
