There was a break in the 7th Pan-Armenian games on August 13th. Participating athletes, delegates, and the leadership of the games decided to use their day off to explore historical and cultural sites throughout Yerevan and the rest of the country.
Members of the Pan-Armenian Games Committee executive body, delegates, and athletes went to the Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide Memorial and paid respects to the victims of the Armenian Genocide.
Chairman of the Pan-Armenian Games Committee Ishkhan Zakaryan told reporters, “We always have this event during the Pan-Armenian Games and we start our day off with a visit to Tsitsernakaberd. All of our delegations are here at Tsitsernakaberd. Many people participating are descendants of survivors. They need to go to the museum and see everything because it’s one thing to read about it in a book, but it’s something else to see real pictures and documentary films in the museum. Every Armenian must know their history very well, especially the chapter on the Armenian Genocide. This memorial should give every generation power and spiritual strength so that a future generation may achieve the dream that our ancestors had but didn’t achieve.”
