Five storks were found affected by pollution, but not in the Ararat region as last time. Instead, they were found near Yerevan in the nearby Aeratsia village of Armavir. Environmentalist and expert at the Civil Voice organization Silva Adamyan spoke to Aravot Daily about this. She said that the Ministry of Emergency Situations informed her about this, where she was told she should call the Nature Protection and Subsoil Inspectorate since “they’re the ones involved in this issue.”
“I am very angry. I don’t know why the body that is involved in working on this case gives them my number and tells them that we’re working on this. Meanwhile, this issue has already reached state levels. Yes, we clean the storks as much as we can, but we can’t resolve the issue. This is a serious problem. There is a source of pollution that needs to be uncovered by the inspectorate so that future pollution can be prevented. The inspectorate needs to send experts to all the regions where this has been noted. Otherwise, we’re cleaning the storks, but cases are increasing,” Silva Adamyan said.
