On September 5th during a press conference at Armenpress, Italian Ambassador to Armenia Vincenzo Del Monaco was asked about the football match between Armenia and Italy. The ambassador said that he will most certainly be present. As far as which team he will be supporting, the ambassador joked that he will only answer that question in the presence of a lawyer. “If I answer the question incorrectly, I won’t be able to leave here, and if I answer the question correctly, I won’t be able to go home.”
Then he added, “All jokes aside, the “let the best one win” rule works in football. This is not only a sports match, but it is also a way to showcase the New Armenia to Italy and to tens of millions of viewers in other European countries. I must say that ties between Armenia and Italy are developing dynamically. Perhaps you will remember that the Italian President came to Armenia on a state visit last year. Between then and now, two parliamentary delegations have visited Armenia for different projects.”
Ambassador Vincenzo Del Monaco also spoke about the Armenian-Italian business conference that took place over the summer, which Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had also attended. He emphasized that the foreign affairs ministers of both countries have also met several times.
As far as important projects, the ambassador emphasized the thermal power station that is being built near Yerevan by Renco, as well as the Italian ceramics factory in Abovyan.
