New tourism trail opens in Armenia with EU support

September 06,2019 18:30

On 24 August, the Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Piotr Świtalski, opened the new Legends Trail, which connects the towns of Goris and Kapan in the country’s Syunik province.

The new 300-km trail has been mapped and marked out by the “EU4Tourism: Outdoor adventures on the historic trails in Syunik” project. The opening event allowed guests to test out a 5-km stretch of the trail, which took them through a new so-called “magic forest”.

“I am very pleased to join the official opening of the Legends Trail,” said Ambassador Świtalski.  “It symbolises the high priority the EU is attaching to developing rural Armenia and my personal attention to promoting initiatives that allow Armenian citizens and visiting tourists to enjoy the beauty of this country while also pursuing an active lifestyle.”
