Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Shavarsh Kocharyan had announced that preparations for the EAEU-Singapore free trade zone agreement were underway. Reporters asked Spokesperson of the MFA Anna Naghdalyan whether or not the leaders of Iran, Singapore, and Russia had confirmed that they are coming to Armenia. She said that several comments had already been made regarding this visit. Armenia has prioritized this agreement made by the EAEU and the President has made it a top priority to make sure that the conference runs smoothly.
She also spoke about the resignation of former National Security Advisor of the US, John Bolton. Reporters asked about what impact this will have on Armenia-US relations.
“Armenia and the US have active relations on several levels. We are prepared to continue on that path. America’s relations with Armenia are not based on individuals and they have a more institutional nature,” the spokesperson said.
Regarding the sale of weapons to Azerbaijan by CSTO nations, she said, “We have voiced our worries regarding the sale of weapons to Azerbaijan on behalf of CSTO countries. Our position is that this will have a negative impact on structural authority and on the atmosphere of collaborations. We are taking consistent measures to prevent the threat of force by a member state of the CSTO.”

Anna Naghdalyan also spoke about the elections in Artsakh and the responses of Georgia and Ukraine. “In 1991, Artsakh immediately organized local, presidential, and parliamentary elections, which allowed the residents of Artsakh to uphold their rights. According to observers, these elections were held in accordance with democratic principles. Artsakh has 28 years of experience with building a democratic state, which shows that Artsakh is serious and capable of building democratic institutions and upholding the free will of the people. We maintain the position that securing human rights should not be based off of where one lives. Not recognizing human rights does not limit their ability to be carried out.”
