Aravot Daily asked Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s spokesperson, Vlaidmir Karapetyan, about what Pashinyan or the government is doing that caused Artur Vanetsyan to encourage people to “wake up.” Karapetyan responded that we should ask Vanetsyan. Responding to the observation that Vanetsyan’s statement was aimed at Pashinyan’s government, Vladimir Karapetyan said that someone else might say something different. When we reminded him that Vanetsyan was one of the country’s transitional officials, Karapetyan responded that he had already been removed from his position.
After the session of government, reporters asked Vladimir Karapetyan what he meant when he said that the author of Vanetsyan’s resignation letter needs to be disclosed and implied that he has connections with those who have mistakenly avoided criminal prosecution for corruption. Karapetyan said, “Artur Vanetsyan confirmed that he did not write his resignation letter alone. He had help.”
Reporters also asked what he meant and whether he thought that Vanetsyan carried out activities in favor of the former officials. “He gave explanations the next day. I want to provide context. When the Prime Minister used minimal words to describe the situation that had evolved between him and his subordinate, there was a mutual agreement. And then to come face-to-face with a statement like the one Vanetsyan made surprised the Prime Minister and his team, to say the least.”
