Representatives of the Red Cross formally presented Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan with Azerbaijan’s offer for Armenia to return the two Azeri saboteurs in exchange for the two Armenian prisoners. The minister told reporters that there are some issues regarding details and other information. “There are several issues that are being discussed, which I cannot talk about right now. We will discuss it when we receive precise information from Azerbaijan.”
The minister said that the Armenian side is not fundamentally against returning the Armenian prisoners to their homes and supporting that entire process. But he does not approach the issue from an exchange perspective. “I am working to make sure that my citizens are returned to Armenia.”
When told about how Stepanakert responded roughly by saying that it completely rejects the possibility of accepting Azerbaijan’s offer, Tonoyan said that he is not aware of Stepanakert’s position, so he cannot exclude anything. However, the final decision will be made by Stepanakert.
Upon the observation that there is a third prisoner in Azerbaijan whom no one speaks about, Davit Tonoyan said, “We also have more Azeri prisoners.”
