“This is my first time in Armenia since being appointed Minister of Defense. I am here with my family since I have deep familial ties,” Lebanese Minister of Defense Elias Bou Saab said during a briefing with Armenian Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan. Elias Bou Saab had been to Armenia twice prior- once for the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, and then during the Lebanese president’s visit.
“We discussed exchanging information through intelligence, which is very important for our country. This will be helpful for both countries as it will help us to strengthen our Armed Forces. Armenia and Lebanon have the opportunity to collaborate.” The minister added that other ministries should also be included so that there could be a multifunctional collaboration.
Elias Bou Saab noticed positive changes in central Yerevan in comparison to 2015. He said that he is convinced Armenia has a great and bright future. Explaining what Elias Bou Saab said about being in Armenia with his family, Davit Tonoyan said that the Lebanese official’s wife is one of the most famous singers in the Arabic world. She is in Armenia for cultural projects and will perform along with the State Symphony Orchestra. The Lebanese minister’s wife is half-Armenian.
“My children are a quarter Armenian,” Elias Bou Saab added.
