“I cannot say what Azerbaijan’s activity was based on in this stage. The situation is strange in terms of the time the operation took place, the number of people involved, and the fact that special forces also participated. Perhaps they were confused,” Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan told reporters regarding Azerbaijan’s failed attempt at infiltration on September 22nd along the Artsakh-Azerbaijan border.
“We do not have any reason to respond. Instead, we carried out a humanitarian action. The Defense Army did what it was supposed to do,” Davit Tonoyan said, referring to the fact that they returned the Azeri soldier.
He emphasized, “I will avoid giving any evaluations now regarding what happened. We are also trying to analyze what took place. We also need to understand the Defense Army’s evaluation of what happened, because something very strange happened in terms of time and who was involved.”
