ARMENPRESS. At least 24 people were killed and 450 injured after an earthquake hit Pakistani Kashmir, Reuters reported citing local officials.
The Tuesday earthquake leveled buildings and split opened roads in an area between the towns of Jhelum and Mirpur, a territory in Pakistan’s section of the disputed territory, Reuters reported.
Authorities have said that rescue work is underway and panic is subsiding.
“The situation is slowly returning to normal, the level of panic is now less among the people, although an aftershock was felt at night,” Reuters quoted Sardar Gulfaraz Khan, a police deputy inspector general, as saying.
