The world weightlifting championships are almost over in Pattaya, Thailand. Armenian sports fans were interested in the men’s 109 kg weight class due to the fact that Olympic silver medalist, World and European champion Simon Martirosyan would be competing.
The weightlifter from Haykashen surprised everyone as always. He lifted 199 kg in the snatch and broke a world record.
In the clean and jerk, when everyone had already finished the competition, Simon Martirosyan lifted 230 kg in the clean and jerk on his first try. He won two titles for lifting a combined total of 429 kg.
