ARMENPRESS. A court of appeals has denied ex-State Revenue Committee President Gagik Khachatryan’s appeal to be set free from pre-trial detention.
Khachatryan’s attorney Yerem Sargsyan told reporters his client will remain jailed.
Khachatryan’s attorneys had filed a complaint seeking the court of appeals to overrule a lower court’s decision on placing the former official under arrest.
The former SRC president, who is also a former minister of finance, was arrested on August 27th. He is charged with embezzlement and official misconduct during his tenure as SRC president.

Khachatryan’s nephew, who is also a former SRC official, is also charged and arrested.
