Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with Kazakhstan President Kassym Jomart Tokayev.
Welcoming his Kazakh counterpart to Yerevan, the Armenian Prime Minister noted that today’s meeting is a good opportunity to discuss the agenda of bilateral relations.
“First of all, taking this opportunity, I want to once again congratulate you on your election as president of Kazakhstan, I also know that most of the Armenian community of Kazakhstan voted for you. Mr. President, the Armenian government is interested in developing trade and economic ties with Kazakhstan. I am glad that cooperation in this direction has been expanding in recent times, but there is still great untapped potential for which we must take consistent steps,” Nikol Pashinyan said, noting that the Eurasian Economic Union provides good opportunities in this respect.
Thankful for the warm welcome, the President of Kazakhstan stated: “I can see a great grip on life in the eyes of the Armenian people. I am glad that Yerevan continues to develop: it is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen. The Kazakh people have warm feelings for the Armenians, and we are eager to develop multifaceted cooperation with Armenia.”

Kassym Jomart Tokayev stressed the need to take steps toward increasing trade turnover, and in this context, agreed with Prime Minister Pashinyan that it is necessary to intensify the activities of the Armenian-Kazakh intergovernmental commission.
Nikol Pashinyan and Kassym Jomart Tokayev discussed issues related to the opportunities for implementing joint investment programs in the fields of energy, agriculture and digital technologies. The parties touched upon transport infrastructures and opportunities to tackle the problems through increased exports and imports. They noted the importance of cooperation within international organizations, including the EAEU, CSTO, UN and others.
Reference was made to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement process. Prime Minister Pashinyan thanked Kazakhstan for its balanced position on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.
At the end of the meeting, Prime Minister Pashinyan invited Kassym Jomart Tokayev to pay an official visit to Armenia at his convenience. The invitation was accepted with pleasure.
