After Naira Zohrabyan, a member of the Armenian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, spoke about the local governmental elections that took place in Artsakh on September 8th, member of the Azeri delegation Rafael Huseynov accused the Armenian delegates of spreading hate speech. “I want to emphasize that the Council of Europe is not a place for hate speech, insults, or lies, which our Armenian colleagues are doing. I reject all aggressive statements.”
Head of the Azeri delegation Samad Seyidov said that everything is clear with Naira Zohrabyan since she hates them. Then, he congratulated Naira Zohrabyan on her birthday, but it was Armenian delegation member Tatevik Hayrapetyan’s birthday.
Speaking to Naira Zohrabyan, Samad Seyidov said, “Your mind is already being poisoned with propaganda.” In response, Naira Zohrabyan said in an interview that she doesn’t hate the Azeri delegation; she simply doesn’t notice them.
In her speech about Artsakh, Naira Zohrabyan had said, “Once again, I want us to ask ourselves one question: if there are arguments regarding the international condition of Artsakh, does the Council of Europe argue that the people of Artsakh are not people and they do not deserve to have human rights? I believe that there are no arguments. Our point is clear: don’t ignore the democratic processes taking place in Artsakh and support the people of Artsakh in perfecting their laws and institutions and in strengthening human rights. Because people will benefit from that. And people are more important than any documents and conditions.”
