President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev responded to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s statement about how Artsakh is Armenia. He said that it’s a lie. “Karabakh is Azerbaijan.”
Chair of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, Ruben Rubinyan, told journalists that Aliyev’s response is proof that, unlike the Armenian side, Azerbaijan is not constructive and it does not wish to resolve the conflict peacefully. “The Prime Minister said that there is a conflict and this conflict can only have a peaceful resolution. If we want to come to a peaceful resolution, it is necessary for the people of Armenia, the people of Artsakh, and the people of Azerbaijan to agree upon this. He expected that the other side would accept this fact, because it is impossible to come up with any solution if all sides are not in agreement. But Aliyev’s response shows that he does not accept this format. Therefore, he does not want the conflict to be resolved peacefully.”
When asked if the fact that the Armenian side has had one wounded soldier and one casualty shows that Nikol Pashinyan’s suggested solution is not viable, Rubinyan responded, “This shows that there is a plan which, essentially, is the only way to resolve the conflict, but Azerbaijan does not accept this plan. It continues to make militaristic statements, it continues with its aggressive operations, and the world sees that.”
Rubinyan was also asked to comment on Putin’s meeting with Aliyev after he left Armenia. “Leaders of countries frequently meet with the leaders of other countries. I do not have anything to say about this.”
