“I am happy to be here. This is my first visit to Armenia. I received a very warm welcome,” DJ and music producer Armin van Buuren said at the Zvartnots International Airport. The famous DJ came to Armenia to participate in the World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) 2019. On October 6th at 8 PM, the congress kicked off with a concert on Republic Square in Yerevan, during which Armin van Buuren also performed.
“I am going to focus on the show,” the DJ told reporters at the airport.
Representatives from all countries that hosted the WCIT conference performed in the techno concert that took place in honor of the congress’ opening.
World-famous rock musician Serj Tankian and producer Eric Esrailian also came to Armenia. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with them, and he later posted their pictures on Facebook. Kim and Kourtney Kardashian also arrived in Armenia.

The focus of this year’s WCIT is “The Power of Decentralization: Promise and Peril.” The congress will explore the different ways that technology is changing our lives for better and for worse, including how it impacts profits and prosperity, safety and security, and democracy and humanity.
More than 2,000 people from 70 countries are expected to participate in the congress.
