The 23rd annual WCIT 2019 began on October 6th in Yerevan, Armenia. Representatives of different IT organizations, Chairman of the WITSA Yvonne Chiu, and WITSA Secretary General James Poisant held a press conference. They presented the importance of information and communication technology in our lives.
Yvonne Chiu said that, when she met with the Armenian Prime Minister, he was worried that Armenia would not be able to properly organize the WCIT. “I told him that I want WCIT 2019 to be the best that it’s ever been, and he looked at me and said, ‘Really?’”
She spoke about the Prime Minister’s support and said that she had come to Armenia many times after their conversation. Chiu said that she can see the developments and progress taking place in Armenia since the whole country is working on that. “When I spoke with members of the government, I was worried, but then a month later I saw that they are truly working hard and they supported everyone in making their ideas a reality.”
