How is the WCIT taking place in Armenia different from the WCIT that took place over the past few years? UATE CEO Karen Vardanyan told reporters, “It had a brand new agenda and brand new faces. These are modern faces, which is how the conference changed its essence. Former WCITs included older faces, despite the fact that they were from large companies. This year, the WCIT included many younger people, which is a good and positive trend.”
As far as what the reason was for the unprecedented number of participants, Karen Vardanyan said, “We tried to make it so that Armenian IT specialists would work together as much as possible. There was a lot of internal participation.”
When asked if there is already any interest in agreements and collaborations, Vardanyan said, “It’s a secret. I know some things, but I’m not allowed to talk about them. You will never know about commercial things. You may see companies being established in Armenia 1 or 2 years from now, but you won’t know that the agreements for those companies were made during WCIT. There are lots of negotiations taking place right now.”
