On October 18, the RA NA Vice President Lena Nazaryan took part in the solemn ceremony dedicated to the establishment of the Faculty of Journalism of Yerevan State University (YSU).
In her speech the NA Vice President expressed her gratitude to all those, who for 20 years brought their effort and energy for passing their professional knowledge and experience.
According to Lena Nazaryan, the freedom of media in Armenia is 100%. And despite ‘the fake news,’ the one-sided commentaries of the events, and misinterpretations and slanders often appear on the screens for several hours and take us to the world of distorting mirrors, the freedom of speech should not suffer and be limited in any way. “The freedom of speech is an undisputable and undeniable value.” And in the conditions of the society only based on knowledge, the journalism being guided by the professional and ethical principles that people can get out of the world of distorting mirrors, get oriented in a right way and defend the democracy, security and welfare won by them,” the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament noted.
Lena Nazaryan has expressed hope that the journalists will not use their force of speech for evil, will not speculate the faith reserved by the community, will not mislead, wangle and harm. She wished all of them courage, perseverance and all the best who have chosen journalism as a profession.
