“President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev spoke about his territorial ambitions not only in Artsakh, but also in the inseparable Zangezur region of Armenia during the latest Turkic Council Summit in Baku,” Azeri studies expert Grigory Ayvazyan told Aravot Daily regarding Aliyev’s “Zangezur is ancient Azeri territory” statement.
Ayvazyan emphasized that Azerbaijan’s territorial ambitions extend even further to Yerevan, the eastern portion of Sevan, Vayots Dzor, and Ararat. “Azerbaijan’s immorality in this case crossed all lines and it showcases its level of immorality in front of international colleagues. Before that, Aliyev said that “Karabakh is Azerbaijan,” and using the Armenian Maragha village as an example, he showed that Azerbaijan’s intention is to completely eradicate Artsakh of its Armenian population.”
