“Considering the fact that the government has a strategy to reach a population of 5 million by 2050, it will be difficult to reach that number using current development strategies. We are suggesting additional tools that will promote the implementation of this plan,” Prosperous Armenia deputy Sergey Bagratyan said during a session of the National Assembly Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs. He suggested that Armenian citizenship be rewarded to people who are of Armenian origin.
According to him, the 6-month time limit needs to be reduced to 3 months. “We will try to help Armenian citizens who left Armenia after independence and want to return because of the revolution with this plan so that they can become citizens again through an easier process.”
Bagratyan said that the government has established another plan to reduce the time limit to 90 business days, which is more than 3 months.
Bagratyan agreed to delay the plan until it has been completely established with the government.
