The 2016 April War clarification commission held another session in parliament. At the end of the session, the head of the commission and My Step deputy Andranik Kocharyan told reporters, “We have received very important information from the Ministry of Defense that we had demanded. The minister sent us additional data. The Ministry of Defense’s data was about the information that was available prior to the military operation and information that the intelligence had gathered during the operations.”
Reporters asked, “Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan said that the Ministry of Defense is aware of everything regarding the April War, therefore, the work carried out by the commission is not news for him. What mission does the commission have in this case?” Andranik Kocharyan said that he will not comment on Davit Tonoyan’s observation. “Of course, the Ministry of Defense has a lot of information, but the issue is the following: were the decisions made afterward correct? Were decisions even made? That is why we need to understand what level of control there was on the army and what volume and nature the operations that took place in April had.”
Regarding Davit Tonnoyan’s opinion that the April War was a conspiracy by Azerbaijan, Kocharyan said, “It is an important perspective. The word ‘conspiracy’ shows that there are sides. I want to understand what Azerbaijan’s conspiracy was based on. Was it a conspiracy against peace?”
