The 13th edition of the Eastern Partnership Panel on Security, CSDP and Civil protection convened on 7 November in Brussels. The Panel gathered over 70 participants from all EaP countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus), Member States, EU institutions and Civil Society Forum.
The Panel was introduced by Pawel Herczinsky (Managing Director of CSDP Directorate, EEAS) and co-chaired by EEAS (Ms Alison Weston, Head of CSDP Partnerships and Agreements Division in Security and Defence Directorate) and DG ECHO (Ms Julia Stewart-David, HoU in charge of the Civil Protection Policy, Emergency Management Directorate, DG ECHO).
The participants were briefed on the progress in the area of EU security and defence including on cyber issues, Eastern Partnership cooperation, EEAS policy on working with Partners, Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO), and EU-NATO cooperation.
The Panel also discussed the cooperation activities for 2020 as well as proposals of new areas of cooperation for the future. The next Panel meeting is scheduled for spring 2020.
