The majority of tourists who visited Armenia in 2019 were from Russia, which was approximately 640,000 people. This number increased since 2018 by approximately 23 percent. Minister of Economy Tigran Khachatryan spoke about this during a discussion for the 2020 state budget plans in parliament.
He noted that the tourism sector grew by 14 percent in 2019. According to the minister, the number of tourists who visited from the USA rose by 18 percent, 21 percent from France, 45 percent from Germany, and between 30-40 percent from other countries. The number of tourists from South Korea, Japan, and China also rose.
