EU NEIGHBOURS. On 20 November, a group of Young European Ambassadors (YEAs) from Armenia were coaching at the #TakeAction Ideathon event focusing on human rights, social work and youth engagement.

Taking place in Vanadzor city, the event gathered 150 young participants aged 13-17 years-old from the Armenian Shirak, Lori and Tavush regions. The participants developed 30 projects based on creative ideas aimed at enhancing the love of their communities. Each project was evaluated at the end of the event and the best three (one from each region) won the contest.

The EU will support the implementation of the winning projects. The project from the Azatan community of Shirak will work to create an inclusive playground to ensure equal entertainment opportunities for all children. The football field of school N 23 in Vanadzor city, Lori, will be renovated and wheelchair ramps will be installed in the school. Veterans Park in the Azatamut community of Tavush will also be renovated.

The purpose of the ideathon event was to raise the awareness of communities on human rights protection by getting people involved in solving existing problems in their field.

The Young European Ambassadors initiative aims to foster cooperation and sustainable links between young people and youth organisations from the EU and its Eastern partner countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.
