“The whole world is aware of Erdogan’s menacing statements. I believe that Ankara views American leaderships’ recognition of the Armenian Genocide as a threat that will negatively impact Turkish-American relations. In other words, Erdogan is putting the recognition of the Armenian Genocide and US-Turkey relations on a scale,” Chief Editor of the Lebanese “Azdak” newspaper, Shahan Gantaharian, said regarding a statement made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on how the US House of Representatives’ recognition of the Armenian Genocide was shameful and its authors are destroying Turkish-American relations.
According to Gantaharian, the USA is also leading by the rules of the game, and it does not use all the cards when it needs to pressure Turkey.
The resolution to recognize the Armenian Genocide was vetoed twice in the US Senate. This time, the vote was blocked by Republican Party Senator David Purdue from Georgia.
