From November 30 to December 3 the Second Wheelchair International Basketball Tournament was held in Yerevan.
Open championship was organized by the Wheelchair Basketball Federation of Armenia and was dedicated to December 3, to the International Day of People with Disabilities.
”Emergent” team of the Wheelchair Basketball of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the RA, as well as ”BKMA” of the Ministry of Defense and two other foreign teams from Georgia and Iran participated in the Championship.
”Firuz” team of Iran Wheelchair Basketball was declared the winner of the Open Championship of Armenia.
These tournaments give many people with disabilities to integrate into society, go in for sports, lead a healthy lifestyle and represent Armenia in international tournaments in the future.
The Wheelchair Basketball Federation of Armenia was founded in 2019.
The establishment of the Federation is to develop wheelchair basketball in the Republic of Armenia and in Artsakh, to hold Championship of Armenia and found a team, which will represent our country in international platforms.
MES was the first from state structures that gave a chance to wheelchair people with disabilities to work in the Ministry and feel themselves a full member of society.
