ARMENPRESS. Former Prosecutor General of Armenia Gevorg Kostanyan has been indicted under 5 different articles in the criminal investigation into the March 1 events of 2008, when he served as Deputy Minister of Justice.
The March 1 case is a probe into the deadly clashes after the 2008 presidential election in Yerevan.
Kostanyan is charged with falsification, inciting to commit misconduct, inciting to commit falsification, inciting to conceal grave crime and inciting to falsify evidence on crimes, the Special Investigations Service told ARMENPRESS.
Earlier on December 4, a Yerevan court approved the investigators’ request to issue an arrest warrant for Kostanyan in absentia and remand him into custody. Kostanyan’s lawyer has said he will appeal the decision.

On November 29, Kostanyan was declared wanted.
He was also once summoned for questioning earlier in September, but refused to come in claiming that he was abroad.
