Commissioner Várhelyi discusses the future of Eastern Partnership with civil society representatives

Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi participates today in Brussels at Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum “EaP4EU: Joining forces for a win-win partnership(link is external)”.

 The Forum is gathering over 200 civil society representatives from ArmeniaAzerbaijanBelarusGeorgiaRepublic of MoldovaUkraine and the European Union to debate strategies and opportunities to strengthen the partnership between the EU and government as well as societies of the six countries.

 Addressing the Forum, Commissioner Várhelyi said: “An empowered civil society is a key driver for strengthening democracy, public accountability, advancement of human rights and resilience. The role of the Civil Society Forum and the organisations you represent will be key in shaping the future of a successful Eastern Partnership throughout my mandate”

The 11th Annual Assembly of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum, taking place from 4-6 December, is focusing on the potential of technological and digital solutions for reform in the area of the rule of law and governance. Panelists include civil society activists and government representatives from the Eastern Partnership as well as EU officials. Images are available on EbS(link sends e-mail).
