Aravot Daily asked My Step faction leader Lilit Makunts about the slogan that My Step used during the elections- “Happy individuals, a caring society, and a strong state”- and whether or not she believes that people are happier, our state is stronger, and our society is more caring one year later.
She responded, “A lot has been done over the past year to bring us closer to that goal. Our positions are stronger than ever in international platforms and in the Artsakh issue. And the authority that Armenia has in international organizations and among our colleagues proves that. This will not only allow us to take our interests further in international organizations, but this will also allow us to carry out internal changes and create a stronger democracy.”
Regarding happier individuals and a caring society, Makunts spoke about legislative initiatives that will allow people to be happier. “For example, we raised the minimum wage from 55,000 AMD to 68,000 AMD. We also introduced a law against thieves in law, which will also allow people to be happier and more caring. There are some projects in place. This is not sufficient, of course, but we will work harder in the future and next year, we will place all our efforts on making sure that Armenian citizens realize that they are living in a fair environment. We are reviewing the package for changes in the judicial system based on that context.”
