Nikol Pashinyan posted a photo on his Facebook page that became a top hit on the Internet: Gyumri’s Shiraktsi Street all decorated for the New Year and Christmas. Nikol Pashinyan wrote, “Gyumri is preparing for the New Year” as the caption.
The picture depicts former Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan’s restaurant, Florence Gyumri, which recently turned on its Christmas lights as part of a stunning event.
It seems that this is an advertisement for a beautiful restaurant to spark the interest of tourists, but in reality, it is an advertisement for people to invest in Gyumri, bring life to the city, and make the city more beautiful. Former Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan provided an example of this in the historical center of Gyumri. He not only made an investment in the city on behalf of his family, but he also opened a Christmas Bazaar and organized concerts.
By the way, every resident of Gyumri who shared this photo professed their love for the city in the caption. It seems people saw the city of their dreams in the glimmering lights. For example, Facebook user Karapet Mkrtchyan wrote, “This is not Prague, this is not Vienna, nor is it Budapest. This is Gyumri.” Another user wrote, “Parisian Gyumri,” and another person wrote, “Is this really Gyumri? It looks like New York.”

It is interesting that Nikol Pashinyan’s post seems to have stirred jealousy in residents of other cities. There are comments from people asking the Prime Minister to pay attention to their communities, too.
