Daniel Ioannisyan believes the NSS is resisting the revolution

December 12,2019 22:16

President of the Union of Informed Citizens NGO Daniel Ioannisyan, who became a member of the Public Council as per a decision made by the government, spoke with journalists after a session of government regarding what Nikol Pashinyan meant when he said that the entire state system is resisting the revolution, which is referred to as a deep state. Ioannisyan confirmed that there is resistance.

When asked about which state department the Prime Minister was referring to, Ioannisyan said, “For example, the National Security Service’s activities as of late have been examples of a classic deep state.” According to Ioannisyan, there are many people in the state government system who do not want changes to take place. “Those who are in their comfort zone want everything to stay the way it is. Their approach is very understandable. They do not want democratic changes to occur. They do not want the rules of the game to change because they might not be needed anymore as a result of such changes.”
According to Daniel Ioannisyan, those who have become experts in targeting the opposition over the past few years will not have jobs in a democratic state. He believes that changes are necessary for all parts of law enforcement so that the logic of each system will change.

Responding to questions about giving the police the right to wiretap, which has been discussed in the National Assembly as of late, Daniel Ioannisyan said that only the NSS can wiretap but it contains a lot of risks. Besides that, the effectiveness of uncovering crimes in a bureaucracy decreases.
