On December 19, the Speaker of the RA National Assembly Ararat Mirzoyan with the Delegation led by the Chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Konstantin Kosachev.
Welcoming the guests, Ararat Mirzoyan again has underlined that the friendship and the brotherhood of the centuries connects the Armenian and Russian peoples, and the Armenian-Russian relations are of strategic character. He has noted that the key direction of the two countries’ relations is the inter-parliamentary cooperation, where he has distinguished three platforms the cooperation of the parliamentary committees, the joint sittings of the Standing Committees and the effective cooperation on the international parliamentary platforms. The RA NA Speaker has underlined that it is necessary to jointly solve the problems emerging on those platforms and has also stated that they expect their Russian colleagues’ support in the election of Armenia’s nominated candidates in several bodies.
Konstantin Kosachev expressed his gratitude for the reception and conveyed the greetings of the Speaker of the RF Federation Council of the Federal Assembly Valentina Matviyenko. He has informed that Valentina Matviyenko is going to visit Armenia, and it is necessary to only specify the terms of the visit.
Konstantin Kosachev also added the regular contacts at the level of the heads of the parliaments to three directions of the mentioned cooperation, which serve as a stimulus in the context of the fulfillment of reached agreements.

He has noted that the RF cooperates with the RA on seven international platforms, which is of record number, and the Russian Federation has no crossing points of cooperation with any country, but Armenia. Konstantin Kosachev has assured that the RF is ready to support the candidates nominated by the National Assembly of Armenia on the international structures. He thanked the NA Speaker for wonderfully organizing their visit and proposed him to convene two annual joint sittings of the RF FA FC International Affairs Committee and the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, and the next one will be held in Moscow.
