December 24,2019 20:55

“We have had many achievements in 2019 that were not spoken about, including Armenian weapons production. In 2020, we expect a lot more activity from our companies with regard to unmanned aerial vehicles and radio communication,” My Step deputy and a member of the National Assembly Standing Community on Defense and Security Tigran Karapetyan said during a meeting with journalists at the Post Scriptum press club. According to him, the Armed Forces was replenished with modern weapons in 2019, and the army awaits new replenishments in 2020.

According to Tigran Karapetyan, “If there is a repeat of the April war, we will not sit in the trenches. Lots of factors can have an influence on military operations, but the most important is the Azeri authorities’ illusion that they can be successful if they use military force.”

Regarding criticism from the opposition that the danger of impending war is high due to the policies of the new authorities, Tigran Karapetyan said, “Let those who blame us remember the April war.”

According to him, if the April war is even superficially analyzed, the main reason for it was that Azerbaijan had a major advantage in terms of weapons. “Unfortunately, the balance was not kept. When we speak to soldiers and ask them questions, it becomes obvious that the balance was disrupted starting in 2008. Now, the authorities’ policies are aimed towards preventing war. We need to prepare the Armed Forces for war and arm ourselves because that is the best way to prevent war.”
