During a questions and answers session between the government and the National Assembly, My Step deputy Mikayel Zolyan asked Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan to provide information about the virus spreading across China, including the fact that people have already died from it. The deputy also spoke about how a visa-free regime was established between Armenia and China recently.
Arsen Torosyan initially mentioned how intensive discussions are taking place in the international community at the moment and investigations are underway, particularly in the World Health Organization. According to Torosyan, work is also underway for a vaccine to be developed.
The minister noted that people who cross the Armenian border have their temperatures checked, but no cases have been discovered as of yet. “There was one case from the USA. The type of virus is known, but not the subtype. There is no particular way to treat this virus as it is treated like the rest. If there is a need for us to intervene in Armenia, then we will. But it is not necessary for us to close our borders or limit the number of visitors right now. We will follow official announcements.”
